Hello to friends and family. We’re on the move.

Our family is flying to Belize Aug. 20, 2009 via Seattle, Dallas, Belize City and Punta Gorda. Its a 12 hour trip if all goes as scheduled, which is not too bad considering it is a relatively remote spot on the map.

Nicteha will be starting 3rd year high school at Toledo Community College, which is one of the largest high schools in southern Belize. The school system is modeled after the the British system, so will be a change just because of that. Fortunately, classes are in English, even though English is not the street language for most. We hope that Niki can continue her guitar lessons and maybe find a place to continue tennis. If not, she may be able to fall back to art and reading which she also enjoys. Niki is our Belizean connection, since she was born there and was adopted when only 3 days old.

Maria and Dan are both Family Nurse Practitioners with some 13 years experience, mostly in the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic in Toppenish, Wa. Thanks to the providers and staff there for all that we know. Maria just returned from the St. James Pilgrimage in northern Spain, walking some 250 miles in 15 days. She enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and an avid movie critic. Dan enjoys a good home brew, ethnic foods, reading and an ocassional round of golf. Both like community and church activities and work. Maria is originally from a village in the Philippines and Dan from a Kansas farm community.

We appreciate the family and friends who have hosted our nearly coast to coast tour. We’ll be posting some highlight photos from our travels very soon.
