Toledo Community College

Toledo Community College (TCC) is the local town community High School. The majority of the students come to school from villages. Some travel about two hours to get to school. TCC offers a wide selection of departments like Science, Vocational, Arts, etc.. The school is also Christian based and provides religious service in the mornings on certain days.

Pastime

I am hanging clothes to dry. We try to do the laundry whenever the weather is good and try to sneak it out before the rain comes. Good thing it is the dry season now so we don’t have to worry about that. I’ve had trouble drying clothes in the rainy season, so we have lines going on inside the house.

Dan’s favorite place in the house…the hammock.

Mobile Clinic

Our clinic goes mobile 4 days/week and we cover 9 villages in the area surrounding Eldridge Village where we are located. We generally set up at the school, community center, or health post. We bring all the medications and equipment we need. Some villages are small, numbering a few hundred people, others somewhat larger. The farthest village is about a 1 ½ hour drive. In this photo, the medical students are receiving a little pre-clinical training from their preceptor, in front of the community center of San Marcos.

Mural Projects

Janet Essely and Paul Moyer will be coming to PG in February to help us liven up the place with painting a mural at Niki’s school and also one at the clinic. To do this we need some funds (about $500). If you can help, send us the money through the tax deductable instructions.

As part of the maintenance of the clinic, starting in January we will be also be repainting most of our buildings. The tropical climate weathers everything quickly. Janet’s new mural will be extra nice part of that.

Niki @ Toledo Community College

Niki’s first days going to TCC (Toledo Community College). Each school has a uniform, so you can always tell where a student goes to school. The bars on her tie indicate the year in high school. High schools here are called colleges, therefore the name. Uniforms definitely eliminate the concerns over clothes! These are all tailor made by local people.
